Theodore E. Eisenstat, M.D. FACS, FASCRS
Theodore E. Eisenstat, M.D., FACS, FASCRS received his pre-medical education at Vanderbilt University and went on to medical school at New York Medical College in New York City. He interned at St. Vincents Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts and furthered his training in general surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, and the Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. Following training in general surgery, Dr. Eisenstat enlisted into the army and served as a Major in charge of surgical endoscopy and general surgery at Kimbrough Army Hospital at Fort Meade, Maryland. Following military service, Dr. Eisenstat spent 5 years at the University of Maryland Medical School in Baltimore, as Assistant Professor of Surgery, specializing in G.I. surgery and surgical endoscopy. Subsequently, Dr. Eisenstat spent an additional year in the colorectal residency training program at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Program in New Jersey and joined Dr. Salvati and Dr. Rubin in practice. Dr. Eisenstat is board certified in general and colon and rectal surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He served on the Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery for 8 years and as its President in 1995-1996. He is presently a Senior Examiner for the Board. Dr. Eisenstat was the program director for the UMDNJ, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Residency in Colon and Rectal Surgery from 1994 until 2005. Dr. Eisenstat is Past-President of the New York Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, The New Jersey Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the Pennsylvania Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the Plainfield Area Medical Society. Dr. Eisenstat is presently a Clinical Professor of Surgery and chief of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick New Jersey.
