Joseph R. Notaro, M.D. FACS, FASCRS
Dr. Notaro was born in Trenton, New Jersey and received his Bachelor of Science Degree at Seton Hall University where he graduated Valedictorian in 1982. From there he received his medical degree at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Once Dr. Notaro completed his general surgery training at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia he pursued specialty training in colon and rectal surgery. Dr. Notaro did a colorectal Fellowship at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. There he gained vast experience in inflammatory bowel disease, operative and nonoperative management of Crohns and ulcerative colitis, restorative proctectomy/pouch surgery, and anorectal physiology. Dr. Notaro is Board certified by both the American Board of Surgeons and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He is a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He has presented at both local and national colorectal society meetings. Dr. Notaros practice and experience encompasses routine and complex anorectal disorders, diverticular disease, colorectal cancers, laparoscopy, re-operative bowel surgery and sphincter reconstructions.
